Carlmont High School is partnering with the SUHSD's Wellness Team and Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital to pilot a concussion program for a variety of our athletic teams this school year. The program will include parent and student education, as well as the introduction of a concussion management tool called the ImPACT Test.
Using a standard computer terminal, the ImPACT test measures various aspects of neurocognitive functioning. Baselines for the student-athletes will be established. Then, should an injury occur, a post-test will be administered, and results compared with that student-athlete's baseline by a healthcare professional. This test is just one component of the overall concussion assessment and management protocol.
