Carlmont High School

We are very excited to announce our new summer reading program: One School One Book. You may have heard of other schools which partake in this program; even entire cities have done this.

Here it is in a nutshell: the whole school reads one summer reading book.

The goals of the program are simply to build literacy and to build community. To that end, all levels of English will be reading the same summer reading novel.

The novel was selected by student vote.

Our advanced classes will have additional books to read, but they will also read the summer reading selection. Again, ALL LEVELS OF ENGLISH will read the SAME NOVEL.

Students who will be enrolling in Advanced English or AP English classes will read this book, and they will have an additional assignment. Please check the link below for the additional assignment.

A film adaptation directed by Steven Spielberg is slated to begin production in spring 2016.
