The objective of our shadowing program is to offer students an opportunity to experience a half day on campus while shadowing a Carlmont freshman. These one-to-one sessions are typically held from late September through January.
During COVID, we regret that we are unable to offer the individual shadow sessions on campus during a school day. For students considering other high schools who want to hear about student life at Carlmont while touring the campus this fall, we recommend attending the October 29th date of our Campus Tours for 8th Graders.
Any 8th graders that have questions about a particular class or extracurricular activity and would like to speak one-to-one via Zoom with a Carlmont student, we recommend you sign up for our Virtual Chat With A Carlmont Student. We do our best to match each 8th grader with a Carlmont student that shares the same interests and may be participating in that same activity or class. These virtual events take place after school and are approximately 20 minutes long.
Sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis. Once signed up for this event, you will receive a SignUpGenius invite within 3-5 days to select the date and time of your Zoom. Dates for chats will run October through January.
These tours, formerly known as Group Shadow events, will be held throughout the year to host larger groups of 8th grade students on campus. This is an opportunity to walk the campus after school with Carlmont Student Ambassadors leading tours and discussions.
We are offering one Fall session that is catered to 8th Graders that are considering other high schools in the area. The Spring dates are designed for students that will be attending Carlmont for 9th grade. Total time on campus will be one hour. Information about drop off and pick up will be highlighted in the registration and confirmation emails.

Parents should plan to attend the Parent Information Night on March 9, 2022 if you are looking for more information about Carlmont and guidance with student registration. Alternatively, parents can watch our informational videos for more in depth information about Carlmont academic offerings and student enrichment opportunities.
Parents that are comfortable with their knowledge about Carlmont and the district registration process can choose to only attend the Freshman Parent Orientation in August.
All enrolled 9th grade students are asked to attend a Freshman Orientation the day before school starts. This half day event starts at 8am and ends midday with a barbeque lunch hosted by our PTSA. At orientation, all freshmen will receive their schedules, walk through their classes on campus, and briefly meet all their teachers. This event is hosted by our Associated Student Body (student government) and will allow all incoming freshmen the chance to get to know the school and other students just before their first day on campus.
