Carlmont hosts both an Individual Shadow program and a Group Shadow program for 8th Grade Students from October to January each year. Although we are not able to offer in-person shadowing this year due to Covid-19 distancing requirements, we are pleased to provide opportunities for 8th graders to experience Carlmont through “virtual shadowing” this fall and winter. Registration opened on October 6, and spaces are limited. Individual Shadow is now full, but registration for Group Shadow will be open through December 1st. Please review the information below and register your child as soon as possible.
Note: These Shadowing events are for 8th graders, not for parents. Parents are invited to attend other events such as the Parent Information Night, Student and Parent Forums and Counseling Department’s Parent Night (see calendar here).
For both Individual and Group Shadowing, 8th graders will first watch a short video that includes a welcome from Principal Crame and Vice Principal Patner, advice from a teacher about how to have a successful Freshman year, a virtual campus tour led by Carlmont students, and highlights from some of Carlmont's music programs, sports, clubs and other extracurricular activities.
Group shadowing is designed for students who are planning to attend Carlmont and want a broader preview of the student experience. Each session will be one hour long, including the prerecorded video described above and a 30 minute Zoom session. In the Zoom session, twenty 8th graders will meet with two Carlmont students and an adult monitor to learn about student life at Carlmont and to have questions answered. Group Shadows are offered on several dates, and registration is required. To register your student for group shadowing please click here. Registration closes December 1st. Individual shadowing is now full. For questions, please contact Carlmontshadow@gmail.com
