Schedule Change Limitations

Schedule Change Limitations
title

Please be aware that schedule changes will be highly restricted once initial schedules are released. The following types of requests will not be accommodated:
  • Unscheduled Periods: Students will not be able to change their schedule to adjust for different unscheduled periods (e.g., moving a free period from first to last).
  • Teacher Changes: Requests for specific teacher changes cannot be granted.
  • Period Changes: We cannot accommodate requests to change the period in which a specific class is offered.
  • Level Changes to Higher Classes: Students will not be permitted to change to a higher-level course (e.g., from Algebra 2 to Pre-Calculus) once schedules are finalized.
  • 7-Period Day: To fill any holes in a student's schedule, they may be assigned a additional period, such as a clerking period.

Permitted Schedule Changes

The only circumstances under which a schedule change may be considered are:
  • Scheduling Errors: If there is a clear error in your schedule (e.g., you are scheduled for two classes at the same time, or a required course is missing).
  • Level Changes Down: Requests to move from a higher-level course to a lower-level course (e.g., from AP English to English IV) may be considered, subject to availability and counselor approval.

Important Considerations

These policies are in place to ensure equitable class sizes, optimize resource allocation, and minimize disruptions to the start of the academic year.
