ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee)

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is comprised of parents, guardians, and interested community members to represent the needs of English Learners.  Additionally they will review school plans and make recommendations to the Principal and School Site Council related to their specific needs. At Carlmont High School, the ELAC group meets six times a year to learn about Carlmont; ranging from school programs, policies, guidelines, the importance of attendance, academic & graduation requirements, and available resources for students and families. The California Education Code requires an ELAC Committee be formed at schools with more than twenty (20) identified English Learners.

Parent/Guardian Representation

The parents/guardians are elected by other parents every two years to be part of the ELAC and DELAC (District ELAC) Committee. The DELAC Representative attends a monthly meeting at the district office to take and bring information.

Meetings

Carlmont High ELAC meets six (6) times per school year.
