Topic: Chromebooks and Student Technology
Good afternoon all CHS students and families:
The use of digital technology has become an essential element of a high quality educational experience. Many classes require students to create and share digital content, and to access and use educational content and materials on the internet. To that end, students are asked to bring a charged device (Chromebook, Windows, or Apple laptop) to all of their classes each day. Students who do not have access to a device that they can bring to school daily are provided with a free Carlmont issued Chromebook.
It continues to be our policy that all 9th graders are issued a school-provided Chromebook as the device expected to be used at school. Current 10th and 11th grades already have school provided devices. The expectation is that 9th,10th and 11th graders will bring this charged Chromebook to all of their classes at Carlmont each day. This device will support all campus wide initiatives (testing, curriculum, etc) in a way that varied personal devices cannot.
Students in the 12th grade will continue to bring their personal (or school issued) devices. As in previous years, if a student does not have a device that they can bring to school daily, they may sign an agreement and borrow a Carlmont device for academics, that can be used both at home and at school for the duration of the school year.
9th graders will be able to pick up their chromebooks on:
- Monday, August 11, 2025 from 9am-1:00pm in the Scots’ Gym (Students need to pick up a Chromebook when they go through the check in process).
- Some additional Chromebooks will be available starting at 12:30 on Tuesday, August 12th, after 9th grade orientation.
For other students (new, or 10th/11th/12) who need Chromebooks to start the year, please contact our tech team - Mr. Betancourt (
jbetancourt@seq.org) or Mr. Cornjeo (acornejo@seq.org).
